Easter Vigil

Please come join us in celebrating the Easter Vigil, Saturday, March 22nd at 8 pm.  The Easter Vigil is the most beautiful, ancient and sacred liturgy of the church year.  It is comprised of four parts.

The Service of Light begins as we gather on the front lawn before the blazing easter fire.  The darkness of the night recalls the tomb of Christ.  Our Easter fire recalls that sometime before the dawn that darkness was shattered by the power of the Resurrection.  The Paschal Candle is lit from the new fired and processed into the dark, empty and waiting church.  Three times it is proclaimed, "Christ, our Light!" then the church fills with light as the candles of the people are lit from the Easter Candle.

The Liturgy of the Word is an expanded reading of salvation history with excerpts from Genesis through Exodus to Christ.  With word and song we celebrate anew God's saving plan for all humankind.

At the Liturgy of Christian Initiation, those who are to join the Church are baptized by immersion and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.  The assembly renews its baptismal promises and recalls their baptisms by coming forward to the font.

The Liturgy of the Eucharist celebrates the fullness of Christ's love for us in giving of his Body and Blood in Holy Communion.

ALLELUIA!
