This year Grace Dryer and 25 other STMP parishioners want to raise more than 2,500 pounds of food. Their efforts caught the attention of the Everett Herald new paper in an article published this week titled, "Gardens' Bounty Feeds the Hungry".

]]> Mon, 28 Jun 2010 12:19:00 -0700 The Grandparents of Jesus: A Summer Bible Study http://www.stmp.org/news/article/the-grandparents-of-jesus-a-summer-bible-study-667.html The summer bible study course:  "The Grandparents of Jesus" will start on Tuesday, July 6th.  Matthew's Gospel lists four women in its genealogy of Jesus, Mt 1:1-16.  These four, and the men with them, will be the departure point for the Summer Scripture Study:  Tamar and Judah, Rahab and Salmon, Ruth and Boaz, Bathsheba and David.  We will follow the format and build upon the skills of earlier bible studies, but this summer's mini-session is open to anyone--newcomers and experienced students, men and women, young and old.  A special invitation is extended to those 50+ as we look at these people as "grandparents."

The classes will meet on Tuesdays in the Renggli Room with both a morning session, 9:30am-11:30am and an evening session, 7:00pm-9:00pm.  Choose whichever suits your schedule.  The first session will be introductory, include all your materials, and explain the format.  If you've never ventured into scripture study before, this is an ideal beginning with its mini-session format, just 5 Tuesdays.  Participants are asked to set aside time each week for reading and preparation and then to share their experiences in a small group format upon coming together.  This is followed by a teaching component, a "Closer Look at the Text," presented by Kathleen Kichline, M.Div., Pastoral Associate and author of "Sisters in Scripture".  To register:  email Kathleen at kathleenk@stmp.org or contact her at (425) 743-2929 ex. 103.
