Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord's Supper

On this night we recall this gift that Christ gave us of himself at the last supper that he enjoyed with his disciples. We celebrate the institution of the Eucharist, the priesthood and Christ's command of service and charity for all who follow him. Some of the distinctive characteristics of this Mass are:

Presentation of the Holy Oils - Those oils that were recently consecrated at the Chrism Mass by the Archbishop are brought forward in procession at the start of Mass. These oils will be used throughout the year for the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Ordination, and the Anionting of the Sick.

Gloria - the Gloria which has been silent throughout Lent is sung in voice and rung out with bells to proclaim our joy on this holy night. Parishioners are invited to bring bells from home to add to the celebration. After the Gloria, the bells are retired until the Easter Vigil.

Washing of the Feet - Following Jesus' example the priest now washes the feet of 12 parishioners.

Solemn Procession of Eucharist to the Altar of Respose - With incense, song and candlelight, we process to the hall where the Blessed Sacrament will be kept until midnight for adoration and prayer.

Good Friday Celebration of Our Lord's Passion

The Good Friday liturgy consists of three parts: the Liturgy of the Word, the Veneration of the Cross and the Distribution of Holy Communion

This solemn liturgy begins in silence and then the Passion According to John is read at the Liturgy of the Word.

After the homily, the Cross is carried into the church. Three times it is proclaimed, "Behold the wood of the Cross on which is hung our salvation." Once the cross is in place, the faithful are invited to come forward to venerate it.

After the Veneration of the Cross, the Blessed Sacrament, which has been reserved from last night's Mass, is brought out and Holy Communion is distributed.

Easter Vigil

Please come join us in celebrating the Easter Vigil, Saturday, March 22nd at 8 pm. The Easter Vigil is the most beautiful, ancient and sacred liturgy of the church year. It is comprised of four parts.

The Service of Light begins as we gather on the front lawn before the blazing easter fire. The darkness of the night recalls the tomb of Christ. Our Easter fire recalls that sometime before the dawn that darkness was shattered by the power of the Resurrection. The Paschal Candle is lit from the new fired and processed into the dark, empty and waiting church. Three times it is proclaimed, "Christ, our Light!" then the church fills with light as the candles of the people are lit from the Easter Candle.

The Liturgy of the Word is an expanded reading of salvation history with excerpts from Genesis through Exodus to Christ. With word and song we celebrate anew God's saving plan for all humankind.

At the Liturgy of Christian Initiation, those who are to join the Church are baptized by immersion and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. The assembly renews its baptismal promises and recalls their baptisms by coming forward to the font.

The Liturgy of the Eucharist celebrates the fullness of Christ's love for us in giving of his Body and Blood in Holy Communion.

ALLELUIA!
